I really wasn't sure if Abby would stick with this. She was really wishy washy about whether or not she wanted to do the lessons. Well, she is actually really into it now! She had a hard time with the first lesson at first. She couldn't remember everything. The next day I encouraged her to watch it again, pause, rewind and watch those parts over and over. I had her name the strings and point to them at the same time you did. Today she was super excited to tell me that she could name everything and play the cords without watching it again.

I’m fortunate to have been part of Holistic Education and really happy to see outstanding wDavid Farley was my guitar instructor during the last two years of my music degree at JBU. We hit it off quickly, both as friends and as student and teacher. From our first lessons, I set some pretty lofty goals, and David held me to them. When I said I wanted to achieve something as a guitar player, David refused to let me stop anywhere short of that achievement; more often than not, I’d find myself even further than the bar we’d set. David is a fretboard wizard, but that’s not what makes him a good teacher. During the semester that I was set to give my senior recital, I was diagnosed with a serious and chronic disease. In my lessons with David, spent time praying together for healing, and David helped me shift my mindset — grace abounded when I wasn’t feeling well, but he refused to let me allow my disease to beat me, and helped me shape my recital into something even better. He sees the best in his students, and gracefully pushes them to be the absolute best he can be. He loves and cares about his students, and teaches them how to make guitar more than a skillset, but a creative expression of the truest form of our God-woven selves.

When I first started taking lessons with David, I had been playing guitar for 6 or 7 years at church and in other contexts. I was an intermediate player, and lessons with him took my abilities and knowledge to the next level! I was equipped with repertoire, practicing techniques, and instruction that enabled me to break into a whole new world of guitar playing. I would definitely recommend these lessons!
